Death cert reads " Accidentally drowned in sea by boat foundering whilst attempting to make land during sudden heavy storm." Drowned off Sunderland Harbour from vessel "Minnesota" and the inquest was held at Easington on 30th April 1892
He was buried at Preston Cemetery - there is a newspaper notice stating that the funeral would leave 92 Charlotte Street, North Shields for the funeral on Monday at 3.00 pm (2nd May)

THE LATE DISASTER TO TYNE FISHERMEN OFF SUNDERLAND
FUNERALS THIS AFTERNOON
The remains of Isaac Chatten and William Clark, who were lost from the salmon boat Minnesota, off Sunderland, during the recent N.E. gale, were interred this afternoon in Preston Cemetery. The cortege left the residences of the deceased, North Shields,shortly after 3 o'clock, the remains being followed by some hundreds of fishermen, and by their presence paying a last tribute to their unfortunate brethren.
