(National Archive BT 130 2) certificate No. 02150 Chatten Isaac Thomas Born 1852 at North Shields County Northumberland Cert as Skipper of Steam Trawler only, at North Shields, 21st December 1883 death 28th April 1892 (June qtr 1892 Sunderland 10a 352) Death cert reads " Accidentally drowned in sea by boat foundering whilst attempting to make land during sudden heavy storm." Drowned off Sunderland Harbour from vessel "Minnesota" and the inquest was held at Easington on 30th April 1892 He was buried at Preston Cemetery - there is a newspaper notice stating that the funeral would leave 92 Charlotte Street, North Shields for the funeral on Monday at 3.00 pm (2nd May)

Also in the local paper "Shields Daily News" on that day was the following report. 2nd May 1892 THE LATE DISASTER TO TYNE FISHERMEN OFF SUNDERLAND FUNERALS THIS AFTERNOON The remains of Isaac Chatten and William Clark, who were lost from the salmon boat Minnesota, off Sunderland, during the recent N.E. gale, were interred this afternoon in Preston Cemetery. The cortege left the residences of the deceased, North Shields,shortly after 3 o'clock, the remains being followed by some hundreds of fishermen, and by their presence paying a last tribute to their unfortunate brethren.
