In 1933 John became ill and his daughter Mabel and son-in-law Joe (Godfrey) Collett took him to live with them at 416 20th St. W. in Saskatoon. On December 31, 1933 at the age of 83, John died of pneumonia. He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon in Block:103; Lot:13; Section S1/2; Grave # 7803; Funeral Homes: Mckague. The funeral was arranged by G. Collett.
